DBD on the Way

Here is a sneak peek at the next issue of DBD. We have had a hard time getting this issue out, but with the grace of God it is off to the printers.

We are so grateful to all those who let us rad there photo galleries. It is so hard to find good photos for a reasonable price. Besides all the time spent having to sort through stuff that should not be ever photographed. It is very satisfying to open our photo gallery for DBD and find beautiful photos of feminine young ladies.

Old Western History.

We went to the Baldwin Cabin Library last week. It is very different from going to a library in other parts of the country. But while we were there I found a section of books on Pie Town, (a town 20 minutes west where we go to church). They were very fascinating!

At one point Pie Town was a booming town with over three hundred families. Now it has only a little over 50 people. The town was once a place filled with farmers coming from the "Dust Bowl" in Oklahoma and Texas. These farmers tried to grow pinto beans. They worked hard on their little farms from about the 1930s to the late 1950s when the strain of eking out a living was becoming impossible especially with the drout that was spreading over this part of the country turning many beautiful meadows and fields into desert plains.

But the story of Pie Town that seems to have come to a sad end is not at an end. Right now every Sabbath morning the town more than doubles in size with all the people that have come to attend the Pie Town Seventh-Day Adventist Church. They gather to hear the beautiful music performed by the young people, enjoy the fellowship of fellow believers and neighbors, and to hear the Word of God presented to any that will listen.

As we have gotten to know the people in our community we see them watching us and our little church. Our family left the work that God had given us to do in Ludington Michigan and went to do the new work that He was calling us to in Datil and the surrounding areas of New Mexico. May He continue to bless the great work that He is enabling us all to do everywhere ~

Our First Snow!

The first snow fall was on Tuesday, but it didn't stick. This morning we all woke up to a beautiful dusting of snow! I love snow and all the holidays that go with it. It's one of our family's favorite times of the year. We girls love to put on special events whether for a large crowd or just our family. Since we don't have any family close that can come we have invited anyone that doesn't have a place to go for Thanksgiving to come to our house. I hope lots of people come. I love having big crowds of people over. I wish some of you Michigan friends could come. That would be a real delight!

Here is a recipe that Lacey and I created that we love. It's a good recipe for when you want something hot and good quick.

Baked Apples

Sliced apples 1 to 2 per person depending on the size of the apple and of your appetite.

Maple syrupy

Cooking spray

Slice the apples in eatable slices.

Lay on sprayed cookie sheet.

Drizzle maple syrupy over the apples. Bake at 425 for 5 to 8 minutes or until soft.

Lacey and I lived on them (and popcorn) when the rest of the family was in Wyoming.

The Lord has blessed our family so mush in the past four month that there has not been time to tell all of you about these blessings. A couple that we have received well at IN family camp was that mother was asked to be an assistant to the children's program director for ASI. And for us girls to be helpers in some of the divisions. ASI would pay for all our expenses except for Dads registration Leaving him to get a booth for Well Done Crafts. This is something that we are all excited about because we see the Lord directing once again.

Also a family that we met at camp has donated the Adobe design software that we needed for our ministry. And the Lord blessed our magazine ministry so much this year that we could buy a new mac computer for the new design software. Our cup is over flowing at this point. WE ARE SO BLESSED!

Last sabbath we were on our way home from a walk and we found these two kittens in the middle of the road. We girls wanted to keep them but our cat hats other cats and little animals don't survive out here living outdoors. We found a lady in the area that wanted them. We were so thankful.

This year has brought so many new opportunities. We have just started playing with the musicians for song service at our neighbors Cowboy church in their barn. It has been an educating experience to say the least.

Last we was a full one. First of all We discovered on Thursday of the week before that the hard drive with all our magazine/ ministry files did not work, and that the files on that hard drive could not be retrieved. Then Tuesday we celebrated my birthday a day early because that evening The Nebbletts came to spend the night and to drop of their grandma for Lacey to watch well they went to a wedding in Tennessee. Wednesday was my birthday, but I spent most of it trying to recreate the lost files for the next issue that is to be out the first of December, and keeping after Admiral, (the Nebblett's large year old golden). Also keeping Jack from killing him. So our week was full. This week has been a little more quiet.

There is so much more I'd like to tell all of you, but we are having vespers at our house tomorrow and Sunday we are having company. So I have a lot to get done.

I've got to run.

Enjoy and God bless ~

We're Home!

We are home at last. Being gone for almost 3 weeks is too long for me. But we are so thankful to God for all the blessings recieved while traveling.

Here are some pictures of our trip. I wish I had gotten more, but I was so tired or busy (as well as my co-photographer) that not much got done in that area.

The silver yucca just east of Albuquerque.

We saw our first tarantula at a rest stop near the Texas border.

Emily busy creating a dinosaur.

Windmills in Oklahoma.

Back to civilization.

St. Louise.

The Dog.

We spent Sabbath afternoon at our favorite place - the Ludington State Park.
Being Sisters!

The more solemn crew.

The LAKE sisters

Jack gets into everything --including pictures. He loves having his picture taken. Whenever you pull out the camera he comes and sits in front of you.

The Beautiful Lake.

Dad attracts the animal. Jack loves him, although the feeling may not be mutual.

We got apples while in MI. Here we are enjoying "real" apples.

IN Family Campmeeting

We went to camp early so we could get a start on cooking. Here are some photos of us deep in food.
This container was use for granola. We filled it to the top and used most of it by the time camp was over.

"Snitching"

Thankfully, we didn't use all these onions. I would have hatted to see what would have become of the kitchen staff if we had cut them all up. As it was, we suffered stinging eyes every day before camp started.

Lauralea was a big help to us, as were many others. We appreciated everyone, from the dishwashers, to the servers, to those who just thanked us for the food.

Making fudge.

The inspector.

Adding the final touch.

Making cheese sauce. I don't know how many batches I made, but it seemed as though that was my job the whole time.

Coconut milk makes everything better!

Spinach for Lasagna.

The other things we had to prepare alot of were tomatos and cookies. People went through them as though they grew on trees outside the kitchen.

Playing freez tag. I was glade that we got to play this year. Last year it rained the whole time, and the year before we only made it to one game.

The Sabbath morning rush.

We had so much fun, but I am thankful to be home.

Dad, Mom, Ashley, and Emily left yesterday for WY to pick up our new business equipment and inventory, so pray for them as they travel.

God bless!
